I first became interest in the stock market in 11 grade, when Mr Bergland, our Economics teacher, gave us play money of $10,000 to invest in the tock market for the semester and a report at semester end. From then on I became obsessed with learning how to invest. From Edwards & MaGee's Technical Analysis of the Stock Market, to Point and Figure, to Benjamin Graham's The intelligent Investor. I became a Warren Buffet investor well before I knew his name.
It all culminated in my first job out of college with a short stint with General Electric as a Financial Analysis (aka beancounter), with Merrill Lynch. Pierce, Fenner & Smith. Mother Merrill as it was known back eons ago was my complete learning experience in the actual working of investing and Wall Street. I was in a 6-month program with 3-months in New York City after a 3-mont assignment in a branch office in administration services, bookkeeping and accounting. The Merrill training was likened to a Masters at NYU. Of course many of the teachers were NYU professors for my class 141.
I was very fortunate in that my room mate was William Dunkak Jr, son of one of the founders of Merrill Lynch. From Bill I met Don Regan the then Chairman of the Board of Merrill and his wife for dinner at the Wall Street Club. Through Bill and Mr. Regan I was given a personal tour of the Merrill Lynch's Technical Analysis Department. I met the "Then Famous Bob Farrell". What an experience. What a thrill!
After completion of the program in New York City, many of the brokers were given financial offers to join the competition. Merrill was known for having the best training program on Wall Street, at the time. I chose to go back to the home office to start my career.
What a career it has been! I don't 'think there is any amount of cash can replace the satisfaction and knowledge I have gathered. From Commodity Department Manager, Option Specialist, Investment Management Selection, Risk Arbitrage, Real Estate Syndication, Office Managment, Consultant and Hedge Fund Manager. If there has been anything in the business, whomever is my guiding force it has not been introduced.
I left the business completely in the late 90's and just hung out. I went to Wharton for their Certified Investment Manager Analyst program and passed. I went into politics and became a Woodside Town Council Member and Mayor. I was the Town's representative on the San Mateo Council of Cities and San Mateo County Association of Governments.
In 2004 I obtained my real estate license in California and briefly held one in Nevada. To me real estate was always and always is an asset class and an investment vehicle. At the same time I created an investment portfolio in 2005 that has been constantly updated and performance records sent to two Hedge Fun Monitoring Services. (Call and get a report)
Today, I am returning to my love Investments. With a strong background and experience I believe I can advise clients to manage their portfolios and advise on their real estate investments. I have re-registered myself with FINRA and obtained my CRD number.
I look forward to speaking to you and adding you to my client list. Fees and management style are individual negotiated based upon asset size and style and objective.
